1.  What is a Lantern, and how does it differ from a skylight?A Glass Roof Lantern is a Skylight with vertical glass at the perimeter walls. The benefits of a Lantern include:
Natural clerestory lighting.
Refreshing ventilation through motorized sash.
Soaring, dramatic interiors.
Architectural embellishment in the classical tradition.

2.   From what materials are your Lanterns and Skylights made?

Renaissance's mill workers will hand-build your Lantern or Skylight from Steel, and select grades of beautiful and naturally durable solid hardwoods, including:
Concealed, Primed and Forged Welded Steel Flitch
Honduras Mahogany
Cedro, a South American Mahogany also known as "Spanish Cedar"
White Oak
Western Red Cedar
Other fine woods upon request

3.   What finishes are available?
The interior wood framing of your Lantern or Skyklight can be:
Factory prime painted
Factory primed with one or two coats of finish paint
Unfinished natural wood with a clear-coat preservative

The exterior of your Lantern or Skylight can be:
Factory pime painted
Factory primed with one or two coats of finish paint
Unfinished natural wood
Aluminum clad or copper clad

4.   What finishes are available for the Exterior Roof Caps?
The caps and metal that hold your roof glass in place can be:
Copper
Lead-Coated Copper
Rheinzink (Zinc)
Pre-Finished Powder Coated Aluminum in virtually any color

5.   What sizes and shapes are availablbe
Your Lantern or Skylight will be custom built to-order to precisely suit your needs.

Roof configurations include:

6.  Do your skylights and lanterns open for ventilation?
Yes. You can choose between manual or motorized awning (top-hinged) operating vertical sash and operating sloped roof vents. Insect screens are standard.

7.  Do you deliver the window to a local shop, or directly to my home?
Your Renaissance Garden Window will be delivered directly to your home, and arrive fully assembled.

8.  Who installs my skylight or lantern?

Depending on size, your Renaissance Lantern or Skylight may arrive factory pre-assembled and glazed, ready to be set into position on your prepared curb.
Larger units may need to be assembled on site. In these cases, we offer professional installation by one of our apprentice-trained Certified Renaissance Installation Teams. Renaissance will never sub-contract your Lantern or Skylight installation!

9.  What is the warranty?
We warrant the glass in your window against seal-related failure for ten (10) years, and the window hardware carries a lifetime warranty. (See our printed warranty for details.)

10.  How long will it take to design, manufacture, and deliver my skylight or lantern to my home?
Allow 8-10 weeks for us to build your Lantern or Skylight. Lead times vary with our then-current work load, so be sure to allow enough time.
